Class Goals

AB104-6

During this class we will discuss the differences between:
• Analytical model
• Constructability model
• As-built / FM model
A discussion on how Architects can become again Master Builders. This will be a collaborative session, be prepared to share and discuss successes and failures in modeling too much and/or too little and the challenges around each. We will discuss and record what the groups opinions are and also what tools we think are missing for aggregating model data and what provide Autodesk Proposals of future areas of improvement. Come discuss challenges, real world problems, missing & proposed tools, and discuss the How & Why we should move towards a true modeling based concept. Discuss the advantages of Autodesk Inventor Interoperability and options for success. Establish a checklist for deciding when we should stop modeling based on project size, scope and contract. Also the discussion of how I leverage all those great AutoCAD Architecture tools for pre-fabrication & manufacturing in Revit and if we should move to interoperability similar to the relationship of Revit Structure and AutoCAD Structural Detailing. How best should the industry leverage Autodesk Inventor without parametric parts?

The result of the discussion will establish criterion for best practices for when to stop modeling and start detailing.
